The Season of Change

"Flow with whatever may happen, and let your mind be free:

Stay centred by accepting whatever you are doing. This is the ultimate." - Zhuangzi

Change surrounds us constantly, like when the weather shifts from warm to cool, prompting us to trade our thick sweaters for light T-shirts. As summer transitions to fall, there's a subtle crispness in the air, hinting at the approach of winter. Autumn often passes by swiftly, almost unnoticed, yet I remains my favourite season.

Have you ever taken a moment to notice the leaves on trees changing colour from vibrant green to golden yellow?

It's a gentle reminder from nature that change is not only inevitable but also inherently beautiful and natural.

Change can stir up a mix of emotions, but it's simply a part of life's ever-evolving journey. Consider how various aspects of our lives, like our jobs, friendships, and family dynamics, undergo constant transformation.

Our bodies, too, undergo changes—like waking up to stiff joints in the morning—a natural occurrence as we age or experience occasional discomfort.

When faced with change, people often respond in one of two ways. Some attempt to change others, believing they know what's best. However, true change can only occur when individuals are ready and willing to embrace it.

Then there are those who bend themselves out of shape to please others, only to find themselves feeling unfulfilled in the long run.

True change, however, often arises from within, prompted by moments of awakening—a health scare, a breakup, a job loss—that compel us to re-evaluate our lives.

Making change can seem daunting, but it's often the small, incremental steps that lead to lasting transformation. Yet, we sometimes overlook our own feelings, neglect to set boundaries, or prioritize others' emotions over our own, resulting in stored emotions that can manifest physically.

Our body, mind, and spirit are all linked. Some people start making changes by adjusting their physical habits, while others begin with changing their mindset. For instance, when cutting down on caffeine, some might start by drinking less coffee each day. But sticking to this can be tough. Personally, I used NLP technique to switch from coffee to matcha. It's been five years now, and I hardly drink coffee or matcha anymore. Most of the time, I prefer raw cocoa.

To navigate change with greater ease:

  • Trust your intuition; you know yourself best.

  • Take change one step at a time; it's a gradual process.

  • If your change affects others:

    • Communicate openly and honestly about your feelings.

    • Listen attentively to their perspective and seek mutually beneficial solutions.

    • Approach the process with kindness and respect for all involved.

While change may present challenges, with patience and understanding, we can navigate through it together. Just like the seasons change, life brings new opportunities and experiences—it's all part of the adventure!
